Drivers Age

25 to 80 Years

Customers who fall outside the age limitations will not be able to rent a car unless there is a young or senior driver fee specified in this section. Please note that, if applicable, this fee will be included in the rental price and will be payable on arrival at the rental desk in the local currency.

Travel Restrictions

Cross Border:

Should the vehicle be driven outside Germany, a cost of €50 (including tax) will apply.

Hertz vehicles cannot be driven into and/or dropped off in any African, American, Asian, or Middle Eastern country, nor in Albania, Armenia, Australia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, New Zealand, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

Hertz vehicles may be driven to Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia, but may only be dropped off in the following cities: Prague, Budapest, Poznan, Szczecin, Warsaw, Bratislava, Ljubliana.

Exceptions: All Mercedes and BMW models, convertibles, SUVs, trucks and cargo vans, as well as all Hertz Prestige Collection and Fun Collection vehicles cannot be driven into or dropped off in Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia.

All Mercedes and BMW models, Convertibles and SUVs, as well as all Hertz Prestige Collection and Fun Collection vehicles cannot be driven into or dropped off in Italy.

All HPC vehicles except (A6) Jaguar XF Aut. - GPS, (N6) Range Rover Evoque - GPS, (S6) Range Rover Sport – GPS, (T6) Mercedes-Benz V-Class Aut. 8S 4WD - GPS and (V6) Mercedes Benz CLS Shooting Break Aut. – GPS cannot be driven outside Germany.

Should these restrictions be ignored, all insurance (Third Party Liability, CDW, TP, Super Cover, PI), if accepted, shall be deemed null and void. The driver will be held fully responsible in case of damage to or loss of the vehicle and will bear all consequences, including the cost of repatriation of the damaged vehicle.

If you intend to drive into Central London, please be aware of the Lower Emission Zones.

Licence:

Driver's licences issued by the People's Republic of China/ Japan/ Korea may be accepted provided you present an official Hertz Certification form. Hertz China/ Japan/ Korea will issue this form on Hertz notepaper and will incorporate the Hertz China/ Japan/ Korea Corporate seal. A scanned copy of the original licence will appear on the Certification form. The Certification form is valid until the expiry date of the Driver's Licence. Both the Certification and the original licence (with an International Driving Permit strongly recommended by Police authorities in Europe) MUST be produced at the time of rental.

If you hold a Driver's Licence issued in Vietnam, you need to present the original licence together with an authorised translation issued by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport. If both documents are presented at time of rental these licences are acceptable worldwide.
